Dear Mr. President:

I know you must be getting tired of those "birthers" suggesting you might not really be eligible to serve in the highest office in the land.

It must be infuriating.

As your White House press secretary, Robert Gibbs, has pointed out, you have many grave concerns on your mind, and your administration should not be and cannot be distracted from the major issues of the day by demands for something as simple as your original birth certificate and other documents that would shed light on your background.

I have a suggestion about how to shut them up and make them all look ridiculous: Simply instruct your staff to order the release of the following:

The original, long-form birth certificate, not the short-form certification of live birth, which is obviously subject to claims of fraud;
All your school records dating back to kindergarten;
Your Occidental College records and transcripts;
Your Columbia University records and transcripts including your thesis papers;
Your Harvard Law School records;
Your Harvard Law Review writings;
Your scholarly records from the University of Chicago;
Your passport history;
Your medical records;
The files from your years as an Illinois state legislator;
Your Illinois State Bar records;
Your baptism records, if available;
Your adoption records.
Please tell Gibbs and others in your administration and party to stop arguing with those who ask for the release of documents. Just release them! Do it now! Call their bluff!

These document requests are in line with the expectations set by your predecessors. But, remember, you pledged to conduct the most open and transparent administration in history.

Most of these documents will some day be included in your presidential library any way. Why not just release them now and shut up your most vociferous critics and the nosiest journalists?

Let's face it. Your party called for full disclosure of National Guard documents by George W. Bush, even though there was no question of eligibility for office in that case. Though we all know these "birthers" are zealously misguided in their demands, polls are showing their persistent requests are gaining traction among the American people. Many of them now don't even believe you are a citizen – let alone a "natural born citizen," as the Constitution requires.

Think of the campaign money you could save. Records show you have already spent at least $1.4 million fighting lawsuits related to the release of records. This money will be needed in 2010 to keep Democrats running the Congress and in 2012 for your re-election effort.

And don't forget – if these questions are still being asked in 2012, it will make your re-election bid that much more difficult.

Mr. President, we all know the truth is going to come out eventually. It's always only a matter of time. Why not bring it out now and put all these nagging questions and this suspicion behind you?

Gibbs is right. You have too much important work to do to waste time on this. You are losing political capital. You don't have to lift a finger personally. Just authorize one of your many staffers to prepare the paperwork necessary to release all of the above. All it will take from you, Mr. President, is a signature.

You have your hands full right now with trying to promote some very unpopular policies you believe are vital to the future of America. Don't let those ideas be sidetracked by minutia. Do the right thing – the logical thing, the rational thing.

Do it now, before these "birthers" spread their venom any further.

1. President Obama's claim ­ enunciated during his June 4, 2009 speech at Cairo University ­ that "the aspiration for a Jewish homeland is rooted in a tragic history [The Holocaust] that cannot be denied," ignores thoroughly-documented Jewish roots in the Land of Israel in general and in Judea & Samaria in particular.

2. World renowned travelers, historians and archeologists of earlier centuries, such as H. B. Tristram (The Land of Israel, 1865), Mark Twain (Innocents Abroad, 1867), R.A. MacAlister and Masterman ("Palestine Exploration Fund Quarterly"), A.P. Stanley (Sinai and Palestine, 1887), E. Robinson and E. Smith (Biblical Researches in Palestine, 1841)), C.W. Van de Velde (Peise durch Syrien und Paletsinea, 1861), Felix Bovet (Voyage en Taire Sainte, 1864) ­ as well as Encyclopedia Britannica and official British and Ottoman records (until 1950) refer to "Judea and Samaria" and not to the "West Bank." The latter term was coined by the Jordanian occupation of Judea and Samaria following the 1948/9 War.

3. The term "Palestine" was established by Greek Historian Herodotus, and adopted by the Roman Empire, in an attempt to erase "Judea" from human memory. "Palestine" was a derivative of the biblical Philistines, arch rivals of the Jewish nation, non-Semites who migrated to the area from the Greek islands and from Phoenicia in the 12th century BCE ("Plishtim" ­ the invaders - is the Hebrew word for "Philistines").

4. Most Arabs (Semites from the Arabian Peninsula), who reside between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean, have their origin in a massive 19th-20th century migration from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and other Moslem countries.

5. Almost all Arab towns and villages in Judea and Samaria have retained biblical Jewish names, thus reaffirming Jewish roots there. For example:

*A-Dura is biblical (and contemporary) Adora'yim, site of King Rehoboam's and a Maccabees' fortress.
*A-Ram is biblical Haramah, Prophet Samuel's birth and burial site.
*Anata is biblical (and contemporary) Anatot, the dwelling of the Prophet Jeremiah.
*Batir is biblical (and contemporary) Beitar, the headquarters of Bar Kochba, the leader of the Great Rebellion against the Roman Empire, which was crashed in 135CE.
*Beit-hur is the biblical (and contemporary) Beit Horon, site of Judah the Maccabee's victory over the Assyrians.
*Beitin is biblical (and contemporary) Bethel, a site of the Holy Ark and Prophet Samuel's court.
*Bethlehem is mentioned 44 times in the Bible and is the birth place of King David.
*Beit Jalla is biblical (and contemporary) Gilo, where Sennacherib set his camp, while besieging Jerusalem.
*El-Jib is biblical (and contemporary) Gibeon, Joshua's battleground known for "Sun, stop thou in Gibeon and the moon in the valley of Ayalon," Joshua 10:12.
*Hebron - named after Hevron, Moses' uncle and Levy's grandson ­ was King David's first capital for 7 years, the burial site of the 3 Jewish Patriarchs and 3 Jewish Matriarchs.
*Jaba' is the biblical (and contemporary Geva, site of Jonathan's (son of King Saul) victory over the Philistines.
*Jenin is the biblical (and contemporary) Ein Ganim, a Levite town within the tribe of Issachar.
*Mukhmas is biblical (and contemporary) Mikhmash, residence of Jonathan the Maccabee and site of King Saul's fortress.
*Seilun is biblical (and contemporary) Shilo, a site of Joshua's tabernacle and the Holy Ark and Samuel's youth.

Fatah Reveals Its True Colors

Is the mainstream Palestinian party really moderate? By Richard Palmer

“Fatah does not recognize Israel’s right to exist, nor have we ever asked others to do so,” Rafik Natsheh, a member of Fatah’s influential Central Committee, said last month.

“We do not demand that the Hamas movement recognize Israel,” said Mohammed Dahlan, a top adviser to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in March. “On the contrary, we demand of the Hamas movement not to recognize Israel, because the Fatah movement does not recognize Israel, even today.”

— David Schenker, Foreign PolicyExtreme statements. Yet neither of these men are known as extremists. Natsheh was an outspoken critic of then-PA President Yasser Arafat several years ago. Ynetnews called Dahlan one of Fatah’s “most moderate figures.”

Now, as thousands of members of Fatah gather for their first conference in 20 years, it is clear they are far from moderate.

The summit began Tuesday and will run through Thursday. Right at the start of the conference—in the opening line of the opening speech—PA President Mahmoud Abbas praised the “martyrs” who died in previous terror attacks against Israel.

Fatah’s charter currently calls for Israel’s destruction. Many in the West hope that this congress will provide an opportunity for Fatah to remove that from its objectives. When asked on July 22 if Fatah would change this aspect of its charter, however, Natsheh replied, “Let all the collaborators [with Israel] and those who are deluding themselves hear that this will never happen.”

Even before the conference, it was clear that Natsheh is right. Parts of a draft to be discussed at the congress in order to update Fatah’s platform were leaked to the Arabic press last week. Israeli Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz summarized it this way on Sunday: “The refusal to acknowledge Israel as a Jewish state, the demand for a withdrawal to the 1967 lines and for the full right of return for Palestinian refugees—this means wiping Israel out of existence.” The draft also reiterates Fatah’s commitment to an “armed struggle” against Israel as one method of creating a Palestinian state.

The plan “is a declaration of war on the State of Israel,” said Katz.

As well as revising the group’s goals and direction, Fatah members will have a chance to change the party’s leadership. The seats of the 21-strong Central Committee and 120-strong Revolutionary Council—the top two decision-making bodies in Fatah—will be up for grabs. Fatah has not held a vote on these seats since the last conference 20 years ago, and many within Fatah hope for fresh leadership.

Will the party move toward moderate leadership? No chance.

David Schenker writes in Foreign Policy magazine that Fatah is becoming more radical, not less:

What seems clear to me now … is that the recent statements of Natsheh and his fellow “moderates” signal a broader sea change in Palestinian politics that has occurred over the past decade. Democratic politics are indeed taking shape among Palestinians, but they’re mirroring the increasingly extreme views of the population at large. In short, the desire for popular support has not moderated Hamas, but has radicalized Fatah.

He notes that recent surveys suggest that 52 percent of Palestinians support armed attacks against civilians inside Israel. “So Fatah,” Schenker warns, “which in recent years has lost ground to the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas, could be trying to better position itself by competing for militant votes.” He goes on to say, “Today, Fatah and Hamas are fighting for power in the Palestinian Authority, but philosophically speaking, their positions on Israel appear closer than ever.”

Schenker concludes that the Oslo accords have now been confirmed dead. “The leading faction of the plo [Palestinian Liberation Organization] that signed the Oslo accords with Israel … now says it never consented to the terms of the deal,” he writes. “Fatah’s formal rejection of the Oslo terms of reference essentially constitutes the plo’s renunciation of the entire agreement. … Sixteen years after the Oslo accords—and following repeated claims of Oslo’s death—Natsheh’s comments confirm the end of that peace process.”

How can Israel possibly negotiate with a group that agrees to work toward peace, only to say down the line that it never meant it?

If any more evidence of Fatah’s intentions is needed, just look at who they’re moving closer to. Fatah’s leaked draft platform also stated: “We must work toward opening a strategic channel to Iran.” Even before the conference, Fatah was doing just that. Last month the PA and Iran held their first-ever high-level meeting.

Iran has already been working with the PA and Fatah. In 2002, the Israel Defense Forces discovered documents proving that the PA was planning to buy weapons from Iran using aid money donated by Western nations.

A “strategic channel” of communications between Iran and Fatah would bring their relationship to a new level. Fatah could soon become another Iranian proxy, just like Hamas and Hezbollah.

Fatah wants to work more closely with a nation with the stated aim of wiping Israel off the map. Hardly the position of a moderate party.

Stories of Israel’s settlers flood the newspaper headlines. Yet news of Fatah’s radical statements go underreported.

Israel is actually in mortal danger. Iran is already to its north and south through Hezbollah and Hamas. “Fatah’s statements are clearing the way to what may eventually be the third intifada,” warned Knesset member Avi Dichter, a former minister of internal security. Such an intifada would essentially be a multiple-front war with Iran.

Enhanced cooperation between Iran and Fatah would put Iran right on the doorstep of Jerusalem. Watch this closely. All it would take is for Iran to kick down that door, and the world will become a very different place. For more information, see our booklet Jerusalem in Prophecy. •

The German high court is ambushing the European Union. Europe’s leaders don’t see it, but they will. Soon.

Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court recently ruled that the Lisbon Treaty is compatible with the German constitution. On June 30, the court rejected complaints by some German lawmakers that the treaty violated the constitution, and decided that “the substance of German state authority is protected” in the treaty.

EU leaders are so relieved Berlin said ja to Lisbon that they appear to have given little thought to a colossal caveat attached to the ruling.

Germany’s constitution “says yes to the Lisbon Treaty,” stated presiding judge Andreas Voßkuhle in his verdict, which was televised nationally, “but calls at national level for a strengthening of parliamentary responsibility” (emphasis mine throughout).

What does Voßkuhle mean by the “strengthening of parliamentary responsibility”? He means this: Before Germany ratifies the Lisbon Treaty, it must strengthen the German parliament’s influence on EU decisions made in Brussels. Therefore, a law is now being created that will demand members of the Bundestag approve any change to the Lisbon Treaty, or any expansion of EU power, before it can be imposed on Germany.

By nature, this law essentially equips Germany with the power to hijack the EU!

Peter Gauweiler, member of the right-wing Christian Socialist Union, spearheaded the challenge against the Lisbon Treaty. Although he lost his appeal and Germany is preparing to ratify Lisbon, Gauweiler was more than satisfied with the federal court’s far-reaching stipulation. “It’s a very sweeping decision on the Lisbon Treaty as a whole,” he told Spiegel Online. “In 91 pages, the Federal Constitutional Court expressly held that the treaty and its accompanying law must conform to Germany’s constitution, the so-called Basic Law ….”

Germany has been chiseling itself a seat atop of Europe ever since its reunification in 1989. With its location at the heart of the Continent, its large population and its economic and political clout, it has been quite successful. This legal stipulation gives Germany unparalleled influence in Brussels. EU leaders will essentially be held hostage by Berlin; they will be forced to take the German constitution and German opinion into account when formulating virtually every law, every policy and every decision.

Essentially, it will make Berlin, not Brussels, the epicenter of EU law and policy!

EU leaders are so consumed in dreams of European unity that they ignore the nightmare that could come with German ratification of the Lisbon Treaty. The Germans are working fast too. In response to the court ruling, the Bundestag (the lower house of the German parliament) will meet in August to draft the new law. The bill will undergo a second reading in early September. Upon approval, it will be attached as an addendum to Germany’s official ratification of the Lisbon Treaty before national elections on September 27. EU leaders are tickled that Germany is being so expeditious in ratifying Lisbon. They hope Berlin embracing this EU constitution will provide fresh, much-needed impetus to Ireland, the Czech Republic and Poland, which have all yet to ratify the treaty.

Even a cursory reading of the German media’s response to the court ruling ought to have shocked them into seeing reality.

The federal court’s verdict “takes the German parliament to task,” observed the German paper Süddeutsche Zeitung. “German politicians will need to become involved with every new law, no matter how small. … And with this decision European integration becomes part of Germany’s domestic politics. … This spectacularly clever verdict artfully says that European integration will not be stopped—but will be making a little detour through Germany, where it will benefit from some added democracy.”

“This is the end of European integration as we know it,” wrote the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. “Germany will support the Lisbon Treaty, but only under strict conditions. And anyone who wants to found a European state must now ask for the permission of the German people.” Multiple issues are already lining up, waiting for adjudication by the German court, the article said, and the “message is loud and clear: We wear the pants.”

Observed Handelsblatt: The German federal court clearly sees the “European Parliament as a minor instrument which is ‘not suited to major political decisions.’” The German business daily continued:

For Karlsruhe [the city in which the German federal court is located], democracy has only one important organ: the national constitution. And that’s not exactly an altruistic move—because by saying this, the Constitutional Court is also increasing its own claim to legislative power. Only Karlsruhe can stop Brussels from going overboard, only Karlsruhe can protect principles of democracy. And that secures Karlsruhe a long sought-after advantage over various European tribunals.

Could this ruling be any more plain? When it comes to EU affairs, Germany considers the European Parliament a minor instrument, and the German national constitution, and the German federal court, the supreme authority!

Under the new law, the German high court will often supersede the European Union courts. Take the European Court of Justice, for instance. If it makes a decision at odds with German national law, or if Germany perceives that it oversteps its authority, German citizens will have the right to legal protection by the Federal Constitutional Court, even against EU regulations.

It must comfort German citizens to know they stand above EU law. But what about the lawmakers in Brussels, or the citizens of the other 26 EU member nations? Brussels will be forced to formulate laws and policies with the German high court peering over its shoulder, ready to shred any decision that doesn’t align with German interests or the German constitution. Citizens of other member states will have to stand idly by as the EU is stealthily subjugated by Berlin.

That’s democracy, German-style!

In its ruling, the German high court expressed concern that the EU in its current form is an undemocratic institution. It argued that this new law strengthening the role of the German parliament in Brussels would make the EU more democratic.

Look at history. Could there be a more terrifying LIE? Yet most of Europe has fallen for it!

In 1954, Herbert Armstrong wrote, “Nothing can prevent Germany from completely dominating Europe. Soon there will be the prophesied united Europe—the resurrected Roman Empire—with Germans in complete domination. IT’S PROPHESIED! It is hurtling on toward the destruction of America and Britain” (co-worker letter, Sept. 18, 1954). Mr. Armstrong was referring to prophecies in Isaiah, Daniel, Nahum, Hosea and Revelation 13 and 17, all of which speak about the emergence in the last days of a newly resurrected Holy Roman Empire—led by Germany!

This recent ruling by the German high court is direct fulfillment of this prophecy.

This new law will NOT make the EU more democratic. Germany will be the only member with a greater voice. It’s a stealthy ambush of Brussels that will only make the European Union even more German-centric, German-dependent and German-dominated. This legal decision will equip Berlin with far-reaching leverage over EU law and policy, and will ultimately advance Germany’s prophetic march to become the unchecked leader of a united European empire.

America’s Racial Time Bomb Is Ticking

Barack Obama was supposed to defuse racial tension in America. Sadly, he is making it worse.

As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama sold himself as the antidote to America’s enduring racial infirmities.

Remember his major speech on race in March 2008? It was more impressive than Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream,” swooned msnbc’s Chris Matthews—the “best speech ever given on race in this country.” CBS co-host Maggie Rodriguez hailed it as a “defining cultural moment in America.” Good Morning America host Robin Roberts praised it as not just good for Obama’s campaign, but also for the “future of the country.”

Many believed Mr. Obama’s election heralded a new era of post-racial political and societal progress. Identity politics would begin to fade into irrelevance, America’s festering race wounds would start to heal. America, united under its first black president, would now explore new and better frontiers in race relations.

They were wrong.

Rather than soothe old wounds and diffuse racial tensions by avoiding race-based politics, Barack Obama has knowingly, perhaps intentionally, inflamed existing race wounds by “consistently emphasiz[ing] racial identity to further his own advantage,” noted Victor Davis Hanson this week. Instead of leading America out of its “racial morass,” the president so far has “only pushed us far deeper into it” (emphasis mine throughout).

By now you’re probably familiar with the president’s provocative remarks during his nationally televised address last week. Mr. Obama is an intelligent man, and is familiar with how combustible the race issue is, particularly when oxidized by the mainstream media. Mr. Obama knew he was handed a loaded gun when he was asked to comment on the July 16 arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., who is black, by James Crowley, a white sergeant in the Cambridge Police Department. The president was given a choice: Disarm the loaded question (a simple statement saying he couldn’t comment because he did not know the details would have sufficed)—or pull the trigger and incite what he knew would become a national debate on race.

Mr. Obama chose the latter.

After admitting that he was not there and did not know all the facts, the president confidently stated on live television that the Cambridge Police Department had “acted stupidly” in arresting his friend, Professor Gates. The president then segued into a short sermon on the problem of racial profiling that still exists in America: “[W]hat I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there is a long history in this country of African Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. And that’s just a fact.”

For a man so educated in and sensitive to the race issue in America—not to mention a post-racial president saddled with the unenviable responsibility of solving racial tension—Mr. Obama showed a remarkable absence of wisdom by weighing in on this issue in this manner. This was a racially charged situation from its inception on the doorsteps of Mr. Gates’s home, and the president premeditatedly transformed it into a national debate on race.

Why?

With the Gates story still front-page news, Americans got another glimpse at Mr. Obama’s tendency for race-based politics Tuesday, when the Senate Judiciary Committee approved the president’s nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court. Handpicked by Mr. Obama, Ms. Sotomayor is renowned for the race-based underpinnings of her moral and judicial thinking, particularly her infamous racially charged remark: “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

Mr. Obama did not merely select a judge with an undeniable tendency for making decisions based on racial identity (as witnessed by her ruling in the Ricci v. DeStefano case, which was overturned last month by the U.S. Supreme Court). His relative silence on the issue and unwillingness to condemn Ms. Sotomayor’s racially inflammatory remarks indicates that the president more than likely agrees with the judge.

Then there’s Eric Holder, President Obama’s feisty attorney general. In a speech in February commemorating Black History Month, Mr. Holder roasted the American people as a “nation of cowards” for not regularly discussing and confronting America’s racial problems. As the controversy flared, conservatives criticized Mr. Holder’s address to Justice Department employees for being abrasive and provocative, actually representing a partial explanation for an unwillingness to discuss race.

In an effort to soothe the controversy caused by the man he appointed, Mr. Obama told the New York Times that had he been advising the attorney general, “we would have used different language.” During the interview, the Times reported, “the president said that despite Mr. Holder’s choice of words, he had a point.”

Many elected Barack Obama to be a racial healer. But in the past six months alone, at least three major instances have arisen where Mr. Obama had the choice to either stoke or douse what were racially charged issues. In each instance, the president chose to allow the issue to flare into a racial firestorm.

The case is strong that Barack Obama is making America’s racial infirmities worse.

The Trumpet has long been skeptical of Mr. Obama’s ability to solve, or even soothe, America’s race issues. In July last year, as the controversy over Mr. Obama’s twenty-year relationship with the rabidly racist preacher Jeremiah Wright billowed, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote: “The race card is going to be played often for political gain! And it is going to cost America dearly. This is not a small problem. We must understand where the race issue is leading us. The end result is going to be worse than anything you imagine.”

Elsewhere, Mr. Flurry wrote that America’s racial tension is a ticking time bomb.

Some of our skepticism about President Obama as a racial healer comes from his personal position and motivation. But most of it stems from an understanding of human nature. Racial strife is endemic to history, long before the Obama presidency—or America—existed. This deadly infirmity has plagued the human race since before the days of Noah. In fact, as Herbert Armstrong explained in Mystery of the Ages, “the chief cause of the violence and chaos of world conditions [prior to the Flood], was racial hatreds, interracial marriages, and racial violence caused by man’s efforts toward integration and amalgamation of races, contrary to God’s laws.”

We need to consider this history. It informs us where racial tension ends!

No human has, nor ever will, solve the enduring problem of racial tension and hatred. Like many of man’s solutions to his problems, Mr. Obama’s antidotes will only exacerbate the problems. God alone can heal America’s deep racial wounds. How will He do this? By removing human nature and replacing it with the loving nature of God, imparted by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thankfully, this time is bearing down upon us rapidly.

Until then, America’s racial time bomb will continue to tick toward explosion! •

Thankfully, a growing number of Jews and Israelis are waking up to the fact that the Temple Mount must be restored as the TEMPLE Mount. Christian Bible-believers testify to this truth too and know that any foreign objects upon the Temple Mount are a perversion of its divine purpose to host a House of Prayer for All Peoples to worship the God of Israel (not Ishmael).

I was unjustly deported from Israel for writing an article, published in Jerusalem, that highlights the plight of the Temple Mount suffering under Nazi Muslim occupation. In it I expose Israeli hypocrisy for professing to guarantee "freedom of access" to religious sites while looking the other way while militant Muslims illegally deny Christians and Jews their religious rights daily upon the Temple Mount. This deplorable and unnatural situation must end!

It was referring to Edward Abington, Jr., the United States' former consul general in Jerusalem who is now "guiding the Palestinians through the labyrinths of Washington. And his firm is being paid $2.25 million for his expertise."
